Free Condoms, Lube And Chest Binders: LGBTI+ Gozo Launches New Campaign

LGBTI+ Gozo has launched a new campaign providing free sexual health and gender-affirming products to their members, ensuring that everyone can access everything they need.

The NGO is offering free chest binders, packers, and tucking pants to non-binary, trans, and intersex people, while condoms, menstrual cups, and lubricant provided by Sexual Health Malta will be available to all members.

“Gender-affirming products assist trans, nonbinary, and intersex people in feeling more at home in their own bodies and assist the mitigation of serious mental health challenges like anxiety, depression, body dysmorphia, and gender dysphoria,” the organisation wrote in a statement.

The campaign aims to support transitioning persons, as well as members of the community, with items that affirm gender identity but may be inaccessible or too expensive.

It also wants to draw attention to the high numbers of STIs reported in Malta and encourage the wider community to get tested through the different services on offer.

“Such as the GU clinic and the testing provided by Checkpoint Malta.”

Sexual health items are being distributed through the support of Aġenzija Żagħżagħ’s A4U fund – a competitive scheme where youth organisations can apply for funding.

“To have a safer, more protected community, we need to talk about sex and give people the tools and information they need to engage in safe sex. Together, with open dialogue and an ethos to remove stigma and shame from the conversation, this campaign hopes to increase awareness, build education and knowledge, and supply the community with the resources it needs to thrive.”

This is all available at LGBTI+ Gozo’s premises, the Qawsalla Hub, in Victoria.

In case you’re unaware and need some guidance, LGBTI+ Gozo also offers free and confidential counselling services for its members, their families, and professionals working with LGBTQIA+ persons.
