Eight Fire Engines Called In Following Explosion In St Paul’s Bay Residence

A woman and a child have been hospitalised with smoke inhalation after firefighters rescued them from their residence after it caught on fire.
An explosion leading to the eruption of a fire has occurred at a residence in St. Paul’s Bay. The explosion happened at around 2pm Monday afternoon in St Publius Street, and turned into a fire that quickly caught on.
At least eight fire engines had to be called in to fight the blaze and assist in the rescue works. TVM reported that a number of people were trapped on a balcony, and emergency responders from the Civil Protection Department were on site.
The police were unable to confirm what set off the explosion, saying that investigations were still underway.
