A man drowned at the Manoel Island marina this morning.

People who were on the scene told Lovin Malta that the man, who is believed to be Serbian and around 30 years old, had been escorted out of the marina pontoon by the police less than an hour before the incident. 

From the man’s behaviour, it is believed that he may have been inebriated while trying to get on someone else’s boat. 

“All of a sudden, there was a lot of shouting, and the police were there in a couple of minutes,” a witness told Lovin Malta.

The situation at the Manoel Island marina seems to have already been contained, with even the boat’s owner being ushered away by the police.
