Dead Tuna Fish Found Washed Up In Pembroke, Days After Dramatic Għadira Beaching

TW + CW: The following post contains photos of a dead tuna.

Another dead tuna fish has been spotted washed up in the north of Malta – just days after an agitated sea creature lost its life in the shallows of Għadira Bay.

This second fish, which appears to be slightly smaller than the first, was spotted by a person who swims regularly in the area – washed up in a Pembroke coastal rock pool.

“Considering the amount of sea slime being released on that side of the island, it seems less likely to be a wild tuna, at least in my opinion,” they told Lovin Malta.

“Probably escaped from an over populated farm,” speculated the witness.

The tuna which surprised beachgoers earlier this week was, according to experts, likely to have been a wild fish which became disoriented, potentially having been hit by a boat.

In Għadira Bay earlier this week, tourists and beachgoers were called out of the water because there were fears that the thrashing, panicking fish would hurt somebody.

Because nobody was nearby when this fish washed ashore in Pembroke, it is not clear if something similar happened to this second dead tuna.

It may have washed up already dead, but could possibly have also been beached in the shallows.
