The turtle was found struggling to swim, tangled in a jumbo bag floating in the water.

Thankfully, officers acted fast, contacting Wildlife Rescue Team Malta and helping remove the debris before it was too late. Gabrielle was immediately assessed by a vet, and efforts are now underway to save her right flipper, which was injured in the ordeal.

ERA also used this incident to remind the public the importance to properly dispose waste at sea to prevent harm to marine life.
