St Peter’s Pool Makes It To Top 100 Beaches In The World List
Malta’s beloved St Peter’s Pool has made it to a list of the top 100 beaches in the world.
The list was compiled by Beach Atlas, an online tool powered by Chat GPT that allows users to discover their local beaches. However, it also organises the Golden Beach Award which takes into account diverse criteria when acknowledging the 100 best beaches from across the globe.
The awards pledge to go beyond the conventional expectations for beaches based solely on their visual allure, i.e. powdery sands and clear blue waters. Instead, this selection embraces a richer tapestry of what makes a beach remarkable.
The criteria include the value to the local community, inclusivity, lifestyle offerings, and cultural significance.
“Building on this criteria, we developed a selection process where we invited selected travel experts and influencers from around the world to cast their votes and help curate the list,” the website reads.
A lot of effort clearly went into the curation of this list, and Malta’s “hidden gem” secured a comfortable spot at 93, not that we had any doubt of this beach’s appeal.
“St. Peter’s Pool near Marsaxlokk, Malta, is a hidden gem, famed for its natural beauty and crystal-clear waters. Surrounded by unique rock formations, this natural pool invites adventurous visitors to dive from cliffs into its refreshing embrace,” the flattering description reads.
“The turquoise waters, enriched by the sea flowing through a natural slit, stand in stunning contrast to the warm hues of the surrounding rocks, making it a picturesque spot for relaxation and exhilaration.”
The spot before Malta was taken by Khalaktyrsky Beach in Russia, while the 94th was secured by Zell am See in Austria.
Meanwhile, in first place on this coveted list is Bora Bora in the French Polynesia, followed by Boulders Beach in South Africa, and Waikiki Beach in Hawaii.
Beach Atlas combined the precision of algorithms with the insight of travel experts and influencers, ensuring a selection that is both data-driven and deeply influenced by human expertise.
It did this by first shortlisting 100 beaches according to the criteria, ensuring a diverse and inclusive selection rooted in data. These were then voted on by experts and influencers, adding their personal insights to refine and help rank the list.
