Wilġa Street Bay Is Officially Safe For Swimming Again

After a week of contamination, the sea off Wilġa Street, St Julian’s, is officially safe to swim in once again.

The Environmental Health Directorate within the Superintendence of Public Health issued a statement to notify that the waters are once again fit for bathing and thus the health warning has been lifted.

After repeating sampling of seawater from the area was tested, the ban from the bathing site was lifted. Footage that was sent to Lovin Malta a few days ago showed the water of the area having a green hue.

For further information, the public is kindly requested to contact the Environmental Health Directorate between 8am and 2.30pm on telephone number 21337333 or by email on [email protected]. The public is also being invited to access the Directorate’s Facebook page, their official website or the EHD Bathing Portal on for similar information.
