4 Maltese Sustainable Shops To Buy Your Christmas Gifts From This Year

Article Featured Image

Christmas is almost everyone’s favorite time of year, with all the delicious food, Mariah Carey playing everywhere, and of course… gifts!

Many enjoy giving gifts to their loved ones as a way to show our appreciation, however in recent years it has become evident that the amount of gifts and wrapping paper consumed and used during this time is crazy – a lot of waste is created.

Is there a way to reduce our waste during this time, and have a more sustainable Christmas?

First of all, when buying gifts, think of quality over quantity. Buying fewer but more meaningful gifts guarantees that the gift will be used and not thrown away the next day.

Furthermore, although it looks pretty, plastic wrapping paper is hard to reuse. We all have that nanna who saves all the wrapping paper and re-uses it for our birthday – wrapping your gifts in sustainable paper, or saving it like our nannas do is a great way to be more eco-friendly.

Here are 4 local shops which you can buy sustainable gifts from:

1. ReRoot (@rerootmalta on Instagram)

ReRoot is a local online store stocking plastic-free, sustainable and eco-friendly products. This includes beauty products, kitchen and bathroom essentials and gift sets.

You may also wish to to buy ‘experiences’, for example, taking your loved one to a restaurant, or spa, and looking for local establishments.

Whether you’re making your own gift, finding handmade local products, or purchasing something with good quality and will definitely be used by the gift-receiver, there are so many ways to be sustainable. And any little thing counts!
