Kerċem Primary Students Create Gift Of Hope For Children In Rainbow Ward

In a heartfelt act of compassion and creativity, the Year 3 and Year 5 students of Gozo College Kerċem Primary School, together with their dedicated educators and a supportive parent, have created a beautiful Christmas Crib as a gift to the children and staff of the Rainbow Ward at the Oncology Centre, Mater Dei Hospital.

This unique Crib is made up of two touching parts, each carrying deep meaning.

The first depicts the journey of the Three Kings, symbolising the courage, resilience, and determination shown by children facing life’s challenges. The second portrays the Nativity scene, a timeless reminder of hope, peace, and the light that guides us through difficult times.

The Crib’s lighting ceremony was inspired by the enchanting Regent Street lights in London, near Great Ormond Street Hospital for children. Just as those lights mark the joyful beginning of the festive season, the lights of this Crib were switched on for the first time on 6th November, bringing warmth, love, and brightness to the Rainbow Ward.

This initiative, held in collaboration with Puttinu Cares and Gozo College, reflects the true spirit of giving, where young hearts share kindness and hope with others. It reminds us that even the smallest hands can create something that shines brightly in the lives of many.

As the Crib’s gentle glow fills the ward, it stands as a symbol of unity, empathy, and light, a beautiful gesture from Gozo’s young students to children bravely walking their own journeys.

What a lovely initiative by these Kerċem students, well done!
