Last Minute Gifts In Malta: Why Re-Gifting Is Actually A Great Thing To Do
Your headed to the annual family gathering and you’ve just been informed that a cousin is bringing her boyfriend for lunch – but you haven’t bought him anything.
You’re starting to panic because there’s not enough time to go out and buy him something – so you decide to re-gift one of your own gifts – and that’s okay.
It’s actually more than okay.
Re-gifting gets bad press. Some people think it’s rude or unsentimental.
However, re-gifting may be one of the best things you do this Christmas… unless you’ve donated or volunteered… obviously.
Here are some reasons why you should give away gifts you aren’t going to use:
1. They are a stress-free last minute gift
It’s Christmas Eve, shops are closed, and there’s nowhere to go. That unused vase you received for your birthday will save you and your reputation.
2. And you’ll even save some cash
The pandemic and inflation have been hard on our pockets, and gift-shopping will only make it harder. Why waste money on another gift when you’ve got something lying around your house which you know you’re never going to use?
3. It’s better for the environment
The item won’t end up at the landfill. Re-gifting is great for the planet! Plus, if not bought by a certain date, a returned item will still eventually be thrown away by the seller.
4. And lowkey, it might actually be a brilliant gift
Someone gives you a bag which you already have one of. You love the bag and would never spend that much money on someone else – but you don’t need two of the same bag. Re-gifting it gives you the perfect opportunity to give someone a good gift without having to spend too much money.
Try shopping around the house this Christmas instead of the mall. Re-gifting is a good thing if we remove the stigma around it. Personally, whatever I’m given for Christmas I’d enjoy based on the gift itself and not based on the amount of money spent on it.
