With just days to go before Christmas, 300 gifts that were promised to children from Maltese families with social difficulties have still not been delivered.

Children’s Dreams Malta is a local website that allows children growing up in families facing social difficulties and those living in children’s homes to have their Christmas Dreams come true and give them the gift they’re dreaming about.

However, while people have pledged to sponsor all the 2,397 ‘dreams’ on the platform, several have yet to deliver the gifts, prompting the charity to extend the deadline by two days.

“Kindly note that since there are around 300 gifts still to arrive, we are extending our deadline till next Friday 16th December. We will be open tomorrow and Friday from 8am till 4pm. We appreciate it if all sponsors bring their promised gift,” Children’s Dreams said on social media.

The initiative is run by the Goodwill Ambassadors Foundation NGO in collaboration with the Foundation for Social Welfare Services.

Now in its 10th year of operation, it has surged in popularity – going from 100 fulfilled wishes in 2012 to 2,331 last year.
