We all need a break every once in a while. Most people would tend to opt for a holiday abroad with a cheap flight to wherever Ryanair tells them to go next. There is another alternative which maybe more people should try.

Ever heard of a staycation? Basically it’s a holiday but you don’t even need to leave the country to have it.

A staycation has plenty of advantages which are rarely discussed like:

It’s all-inclusive. You can feel free to eat and drink to your heart’s content.

You can celebrate literally anything. Just graduated? Go on a staycation. Have a birthday or anniversary coming up?

Go on a staycation. The possibilities are endless.

Since it’s all-inclusive you can afford to have a day where you drink till you’re totally unproductive and can barely stand up straight. That’s totally fine, you can enjoy yourself and then just go up to your room to sleep it off.

You can use it as an excuse to get that long overdue housework done. Maybe you’ve always wanted to repaint the house but never found a time when you could leave the house, now you can with a staycation.

You can still work in the meantime. It can happen to the best of us, you might run out of leave till the end of the year so you’ll still need to get some work done. This can be done if you stay in Malta and go on a staycation.

You could always gift a staycation to your parents who never know what they want. This is particularly viable if you’ve got siblings that can help pool in.

It gives you an opportunity to get a break from the cooking and cleaning. Mundane house chores can certainly take a toll on your energy so it’s good to get a break.

It’s a good alternative for breastfeeding mothers. For a lot of breastfeeding mothers, travelling too far away would require them to pump a lot of milk for the time that they’re away which can be quite a hassle. Like this they’re still relatively reachable and instead of wasting time catching flights, you use that time to catch sun rays.

Lastly it provides an escape from the local festa if that’s something you simply can’t stand. Unless you’re ready to forget where you parked your car and dive into the crowd, leaving the village for the weekend could be more peaceful.

These are all valid reasons to go on a staycation, however if you’re still not convinced there’s one another thing you might not be considering.

Going on a staycation means that you’re helping to support local businesses.
