A 16-year-old boy from Attard was charged with assaulting and threatening his mother who is nine months pregnant.

The shocking alleged incident happened on January 3rd. Police were called to the Attard residence and found the pregnant victim outside and visibly scared.

She described an argument with her son over some clothes, which then escalated. The 16-year-old put a knife to her face and threw it at her in the presence of his four-year-old sibling.

Police found the boy on the roof in clear distress, repeating that he did not want to go to prison.

His lawyers argued that the boy suffered from ADHD and told them “I don’t have anyone who loves me and I have never had anyone who loves me”.

In court, the defendant’s request for bail was shot down and the accused will be sent to The Young Persons Offenders Unit, (YOURS) and have a social worker.

A request for protection of the mother, her partner and their four-year-old daughter, who was in the room at the time of the incident, was granted.
