The 30-year-old Sudanese man who was seen in videos receiving a serious beating by several bouncers in Paceville was detained and taken to court after he was accused of hitting one bouncer with a bottle before the multi-person assault happened.

Ahmed Adam Idriss Albarjo was brought to court, on Saturday morning – a few days after the incident took place, on New Year’s Eve.

The Prosecution led by Inspector Brian Xuereb explained that the video, which appeared on Lovin Malta, shows five men brutally attacking and beating the man, including with a baton-like object.

Ahmed Adam Idriss Albarjo’s lawyers asked for his release from custody after it was explained that Ahmed Adam Idriss Albarjo was the victim of a brutal beating because he was not allowed to enter Havana club. The lawyer pointed out that the video being circulated on social media was taken after he had already suffered minor injuries and therefore appeared to be throwing the bottle.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.

This request was objected to by the prosecution who argued there are still many people who want to testify.
