33-Year-Old Supermarket Worker Residing In Msida Charged With ‘Extreme Child Pornography’
A man was detained in custody following charges related to the possession and dissemination of extreme child pornography.
The suspect was identified as a 33-year-old Msida resident from the Philippines called Rheo Victoriano Loberiza. He disclosed that he works at a local supermarket and pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Inspector Dorianne Tabone formally accused Rheo Victoriano Loberiza of creating or distributing pornographic material of an exceptionally disturbing nature.
The material reportedly depicted children under nine years old subjected to acts of bestiality, brutality, sadism, or torture.
Additionally, Loberiza was charged with knowingly accessing indecent content involving underage subjects through technological means.
During the arraignment, both sides requested a private discussion with magistrate Charmaine Galea, but the request was denied according to established guidelines from superior courts.
Defence counsel Adriano Spiteri sought a publication ban on Loberiza’s name, which was contested by Inspector Tabone, arguing that there was no legal basis for such an order.
The court sided with the prosecution, refusing the request but agreeing to withhold the identity of the defendant’s place of employment.
The defence did not seek bail at this stage of the proceedings.
