Maltese comedian Dan Xuereb was declared not guilty of all the charges he faced for calling River of Love pastor Gordon Manché an “asshole” during a comedy show.

“After a hard-fought and drawn-out battle, comedian @danxcomedy has been declared not guilty of any of the charges pressed against him,” Wild Comedy Malta wrote on social media.

The police filed criminal charges against Xuereb after receiving a report from Manché, this caused widespread backlash with many criticising the authorities for targeting free speech. Xuereb wasn’t the only comedian to be charged for targeting Manché.

“However, we all still agree that Dan is Malta’s biggest asshole,” the comedy club continued.

Meanwhile, Xuereb is set to go on stage for a post-verdict special aptly named ‘Take Me To Court’ where the audience will get the ins and outs of what happened in court.

“If you want all the hot and spicy court-based goss, come to our show tomorrow at Duke’s Club, St Julians. Tickets 🎫 available from the link in our bio.”

The case was presided over by Magistrate Kevan Azzopardi.
