Four Men Accused For AFM Cannabis Heist Released On Bail

Four men that were accused of stealing cannabis resin from AFM- controlled barracks in Ħal Safi were released on bail on Thursday.
The accused, Sean Attard (30) from Żebbuġ, Yousef Essesi (33) from St Paul’s Bay, Marsa residents Carlos Pace (23) and his brother Cleaven (19) were the first to be arraigned in connection with the heist on 26th February.
All four stand accused of stealing 132 kilograms of cannabis resin. They are also accused of associating for the purpose of drug trafficking and cannabis possession in circumstances which indicate that their activities were not for personal use.
The resin was being held by the armed forces at the request of the Court Services Agency. The 132 kilograms of cannabis resin were part of a larger seizure of resin made at the Malta Freeport in June.
Pace also stands accused of breaching terms of a suspended sentence from 2023 and bail conditions imposed in 2024 in a different criminal case.
In April and May, respectively, two other people who were arraigned separately in relation to the heist—Liam Stewart and Christa Gauci, the girlfriend of Cleaven Pace—were granted bail.
