Jeremie Camilleri Pleads Guilty To Murdering Pelin Kaya
34-year-old Jeremie Camilleri has unexpectedly pleaded guilty to the voluntary killing of Pelin Kaya in a shocking development earlier this morning.
Pelin was brutally run over and killed just hours into her 30th birthday on 18th January 2023. Camilleri drove his car into the Turkish national before ramming into the KFC outlet in Gżira.
The guilty plea comes following a pact agreement reached between the prosecution, the defense and the civil party represented by Lawyer Charlon Gouder, TVM News reported.
A sentence is expected to be handed in the next hours.
During the compilation of evidence, court experts testified that Camilleri did not apply the breaks when running Kaya over and that he tested positive for both cocaine and cannabis. Witnesses further stated that they were attacked or threatened by Camilleri.
A vigil for Pelin happened less than a month ago with family, friends, locals, and members of the Turkish community remembering her ambitious and kind soul. Her sister even gave a heartbreaking speech lamenting Pelin’s death, saying that she wishes it was her.
