Magistrate Steps Away From Baħrija Double Murder Case Moments After Sitting Begins

Magistrate Nadine Sant Lia has officially stepped back from the double murder case involving Anthony Agius and Dennis Mifsud.
The compilation of evidence in courtroom number 24 was paused just minutes after it began and Magistrate Sant Lia recused herself due to the involvement of a lawyer in the case.
She has now filed an urgent request for the Chief Justice to assign a new magistrate.
Until a new appointment is made, the case has been put on hold.
The investigation centres around a deadly shooting that took place on 29th July in the Kunċizzjoni area of Baħrija. Police later arrested Carmel Ciantar, also known as Id-Durga.
He is facing multiple charges, including the murder of the two victims, arson and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
