Medics Tried To Restart Kaya Pelin’s Heart In Gżira While Camilleri Hinted To His Ex About His Fatal Plan
New revelations have been revealed in court as experts share their findings and timelines of the night that killed Pelin Kaya.
Jeremie Camilleri has been accused of killing Turkish interior designer Pelin Kaya in the early hours of 18th January, when he hit her with his BMW as she crossed the Paul and Rocco petrol station in Gżira.
Digital forensic expert Martin Bajada collected at least 11 hours worth of recordings, CCTV and mobile phone data, confirming that there wasn’t any contact between the accused and victim before the accident.
A recording clip presented in court did find that Camilleri had hinted about his plans when he called his ex-girlfriend that night. He told his ex-girlfriend that he’s a “psychopath” and a “proud criminal” and that he “wants to be popular” an hour before running over Pelin Kaya in Gżira.
Medical consultant Micheal Spiteri then gave a timeline of what happened that fatal night.
At 1.08am, a call was made to the hospital’s emergency unit about a serious traffic accident in Gżira. Spiteri was on site in the next 15 minutes, and a team of medics were already there trying to resuscitate Kaya, who was lying down near the petrol station.
Kaya’s heart was not beating and she had multiple injuries. Her windpipe had to be opened, she had significant blood loss and medics tried to restart her heart.
She was transported to Mater Dei and her heart was still not beating. She was certified dead once at hospital.
On the scene, there were around 15 to 20 bystanders who were in understandable shock, while police tried to reprimand an aggressive Camilleri.
The case has been adjourned to 11th July.
