Silvio Grixti Will Be Formally Charged Over Disability Racket This Morning

Former Labour MP Silvio Grixti will be formally charged in court this morning, alongside four others, over his role in the disability benefits racket that rocked the nation last year.
He will be formally charged with offences related to fraud and organised crime, together with alleged co-conspirators Roger Agius, Emmanuel Spagnol, Dustin Caruana, and Luke Saliba, according to MaltaToday.
Last year, it was revealed that Grixti, who is also a doctor, allegedly provided false medical documents to hundreds of people to help them receive monthly severe disability benefits they were not entitled to.
The fraudulent scheme lasted years and recipients received around €450 per month. This defrauded the government of millions of euros.
People who were not disabled were being granted eligibility for these monetary benefits within minutes while others endured months of application procedures.
MaltaToday captured Grixti walking into the courts with nothing to say when asked whether top officials within the Labour Party knew of his role in the scheme.
