After waiting for three hours for a bus in the sun, a frustrated passenger allegedly attacked a bus driver and damaged a glass panel at the Valletta Bus Terminus.

29-year-old Andre Calleja, from Bormla, was subsequently arrested and has been remanded in custody. On Wednesday, Calleja was brought before Magistrate was formally charged.

The charges included threatening and violently resisting two police officers, which resulted in minor injuries to them.

Calleja was also charged with attacking the officers, damaging a glass panel of a bus shelter, disobeying orders from a public servant, and disturbing the peace.

Despite the charges, Calleja has pleaded not guilty. His legal representative, Procurator Peter Paul Zammit, requested bail for his client.

However, the request for bail was denied by Magistrate Rizzo, and Calleja remains in custody as investigations continue.
