Bulgarian national Yoana Valentinova Gatt, 44, involved in the Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq accident that left a motorcyclist with serious injuries has been granted bail.

Gatt, who’s currently residing in St Paul’s Bay, admitted to causing serious injuries to the victim through negligence, damaging his motorcycle and drunk driving, and denied the charge for reckless driving, as reported by Times of Malta.

The incident, which took place on 17th August involved Valentinova Gatt driving into the motorcycle from behind, injuring a Belgian national residing in Gżira.

Eyewitnesses who testified in court earlier this week relayed information that five men lifted the car, which was still running, off the 53-year-old.

After a breathalyser test, it was revealed that Yoana Valentinova Gatt was six times over the legal limit.

This morning, Gatt was granted a €2,000 bail deposit and a €10,000 personal guarantee and ordered to sign a bail book twice a week.

The case was presided by Magistrate Antoine Agius Bonnici, and Police inspector Nathan Bugeja prosecuted. Nadya Fiott appeared for the accused.
