A Creative Landmark For Malta: €15 Million Marsa Arts And Culture Hub Announced
Plans for the new Cultural and Arts Centre in Marsa have been unveiled by Minister for National Heritage, Arts, and Local Government, Owen Bonnici. This prestigious project, funded with €15 million in European funds, aims to inspire and propel Malta’s cultural and artistic landscape into the future.
Not only will the centre provide a dedicated space for artistic expression, but it will also serve as a hub connecting communities, bringing culture closer to the Maltese public.
“The Cultural and Arts Centre will host a variety of cultural events, exhibitions and performances, offering unique experiences to the public. This venue will give Maltese artists, creatives and exhibitors, including Carnival enthusiasts, a platform to showcase their talents, collaborate and strengthen our creative economy. In this way, the centre will become a vibrant focal point for Maltese talent and cultural traditions, fostering creativity and supporting our growing arts industry,” Minister Bonnici shared.
“This initiative will create a living monument to our creativity and community spirit. We believe this Centre will become a cornerstone of Maltese identity and an inspiration for future generations,” he added.
“Festivals Malta remains committed to working tirelessly to support the artistic and cultural scene in our country. The Culture and Arts Hub in Marsa exemplifies this commitment, expanding opportunities for Malta’s cultural and artistic sectors,” Festivals Malta Chairman Aaron Zahra stated.
The centre will also offer educational programmes and youth engagement initiatives, creating an inclusive space open to every member of the community. CEO of Festivals Malta, Frans Agius, expressed pride in undertaking such an ambitious project: “This centre will provide new spaces where Maltese artists can experiment, create and share ideas. It will foster artistic dialogue and mutual learning—a much-needed project for Malta’s cultural and artistic fields.”
This cultural vision aims to celebrate and strengthen Malta’s rich traditions and heritage while advancing its contemporary cultural progress, ensuring a legacy for the future that all Maltese people can take pride in.
