Alliance Française Opens New Cultural Hub At St George Preca College In Ħamrun
The Alliance Française Malta-Méditerranée has officially opened its new building at St George Preca College in Ħamrun, further cementing its role in promoting French language and culture in Malta.
The inauguration was attended by Minister for National Heritage, the Arts, and Local Government Owen Bonnici, French Ambassador to Malta H.E. Sandrine Lelong-Motta, and officials from the Ministry of Education, as well as members of the college’s administration and staff.
During the event, Minister Bonnici praised the Alliance Française for its long-standing contribution to Maltese cultural life.
The Alliance Française de Malte-Méditerranée has long been recognised as more than just a linguistic centre, serving as a hub of excellence in Malta. Established before the country gained independence and became a republic, it has maintained a consistent presence for over 60 years, underscoring its value to the Maltese community.
With over 400 students attending annually, the institution has built a strong reputation for fostering cultural and educational ties between Malta and France. This latest milestone reflects its ongoing commitment to providing valuable learning opportunities and enriching the local cultural landscape.
A key highlight of the ceremony was the unveiling of the ‘Micro-Folie’ interactive digital museum in the school’s library. This innovative installation features over 4,000 works of art from leading French museums, complemented by virtual reality experiences, offering both students and the general public an immersive cultural journey.
The event also included performances by students of St George Preca College, showcasing the collaborative spirit between the institution and the Alliance Française.
With this new cultural hub, the Alliance Française continues its mission to foster deeper connections between Malta and France, while providing students and the community with rich educational and cultural experiences.
