Cultural Enhancement Through Artistic Financing For Maltese Feasts Celebrations
In a recent announcement, the Minister for the Arts Owen Bonnici, announced that the Artistic Financing for Feast Associations Scheme will be extending support to 27 voluntary organisations.
This initiative, overseen by Arts Council Malta, is deeply rooted in the cultural enrichment of the Maltese feasts, celebrating the artistic decorations that define many local celebrations.
During his address, Bonnici commended these dedicated associations for their artistic endeavours which illuminate the streets of various localities during the iconic feast season.
“Through the implementation of this scheme, we are continuing to strengthen our nation’s cultural foundation and the rich traditions inherent in feast decorations. This support encompasses not only design and manufacturing assistance but also extends to investment in learning and training, along with fostering various cultural projects and activities. Such initiatives consistently provide us with the groundwork to reinforce and secure the future of our cultural heritage,” he said.
Echoing this sentiment, Mary Ann Cauchi, Director Funding and Strategy at the Arts Council Malta, spoke about the profound impact these organisations have on local communities. She highlighted their year-long dedication to preserving the cultural essence of traditional Maltese feasts.
“This programme ensures that these organisations receive the necessary support to continue advancing their endeavours, whilst also encouraging higher levels of artistic achievement,” remarked Ms Cauchi.

The scheme is not just about funding but about ensuring that the rich cultural tapestry of Maltese festas is woven even more intricately into the fabric of community life. Beneficiaries, enrolled with the Commissioner for Voluntary Organisations, were evaluated by Arts Council Malta to ensure the highest levels of artistic and cultural representation.
