D’Amato Records’ historic HMV sign in Valletta has been fully restored and reinstalled after it was severely damaged by a crane in early July.

Known as the oldest HMV sign in the world, it was taken down for restoration on July 10th following the July 4th accident. After weeks of careful and intricate work by the expert team at PrevArti Co. Ltd, the iconic sign has finally returned to its rightful place on St. John’s Street, above the entrance to D’Amato Records.

D’Amato Records first opened its doors in 1885 and continues to be a landmark in Valletta, celebrating both the city’s musical and cultural heritage. Now, with the restored sign back on display, that legacy continues to thrive.

For those who wish to see the iconic sign in person, D’Amato Records is open daily, offering a wide range of records and music-related products for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
