designMT: Malta’s New Expo Merges Tradition And Innovation At Valletta’s Iconic Spots

Malta is hosting its first-ever design expo, designMT, across several historic locations in Valletta from 30th September to 5th October.

This highly anticipated event will feature four unique exhibitions, each spotlighting contemporary design pieces that balance functionality with cultural heritage.

The exhibitions will be complemented by thematic events and discussions on contemporary design trends and innovations, examining how design influences daily life.

Organised by the Malta Crafts Foundation in collaboration with Golden Glitch, designMT is supported by Arts Council Malta, Heritage Malta, the Industrial Property Registrations Unit, the Malta Digital Innovation Authority, and the Malta Tourism Authority. Additional partners include Kamra tal-Periti, Spazju Kreattiv, and the Valletta Cultural Agency, all working together to create a significant platform for creative dialogue and innovation.

Visitors can expect a diverse blend of designs that reflect modern living, curated to highlight the cultural significance and evolving trends in Malta’s design scene.

Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with practitioners, explore cutting-edge ideas, and immerse themselves in the island’s rich design landscape.

Through workshops, talks, and panel discussions, the expo aims to inspire, educate, and connect both seasoned professionals and design enthusiasts alike, offering a unique opportunity to explore the intersection of tradition and innovation in Maltese design.

Entrance to all exhibitions is free, with locations including Auberge D’Aragon, Fortress Builders, St John’s Cavalier, and Valletta Design Cluster.
