€170,000 Funding Boosts Health And Safety In Fireworks Factories

Volunteers play a crucial role in the field of pyrotechnics, and their safety is of paramount importance.
That’s why it’s incredibly significant that 26 voluntary organisations in this sector have been awarded a substantial funding of €170,000 to enhance health and safety standards in fireworks factories.
Managed by Arts Council Malta, this fund is a vital investment in the well-being of these dedicated individuals who tirelessly contribute their skills and time.
During the award ceremony, Minister for the National Heritage, Owen Bonnici, acknowledged the innovative ways in which these voluntary organisations intertwine traditional cultural practices with modern creations.
This funding not only supports their creative endeavours but also ensures that a safer working environment is established for the pyrotechnicians who apply their skills in fireworks factories.
“This fund, which was launched in 2018, has proven essential to continue strengthening our traditional cultural and creative sector,” he said.

Arts Council Malta, through its Strategy2025 goals, aims to promote the flourishing of Malta’s cultural and creative sectors.
By directing resources towards improving health and safety infrastructure, this funding initiative recognises the importance of preserving the local fireworks culture while prioritising the well-being of the volunteers involved.
The funding enables investment in essential equipment and gear that enhance safety measures. By supporting efforts to strengthen cooperation on a European level, this funding initiative showcases the commitment of Malta’s voluntary organisations to share best practices and foster a culture of safety within the pyrotechnics community.
It acknowledges the importance of their well-being and safety and underscores the invaluable contributions of volunteers and their dedication to preserving cultural traditions.
