Festa Bengħajsa Returns with A Day Of Cultural Enrichment

On Sunday, 18th May 2025, the Birżebbuġa Local Council will be hosting a special event in the heart of Bengħajsa: Festa Bengħajsa – a lively day filled with history, culture and nostalgia, offering far more than just entertainment.

Expect a vibrant line-up of activities for the whole family in a welcoming atmosphere that celebrates both community and heritage.

Programme of the Day

Blessing of the Animals
Begin the day on a meaningful note – a traditional blessing of animals at 8:30am on Triq il-Fortizza. Everyone is welcome to attend and bring along their beloved pets!

Historic Reenactment Show
Witness a powerful live reenactment of key wartime moments – an engaging and educational experience for all ages.

Craft Displays
Local artisans will showcase their handmade crafts on site – ideal for those who appreciate traditional skills and creativity.

Games and Activities for Children
A safe and enjoyable space packed with educational and entertaining activities for children of all ages.

Ride on the Historic Kalafrana Bus
Relive the nostalgia with a trip on a classic vintage bus! This special free service also includes a guided historical commentary by the Għaqda Storja u Kultura, giving deeper insight into Bengħajsa and its surroundings.

This unique exhibition is thanks to the private collection of Michael, fondly known as “Piti ta’ Bengħajsa” – a passionate historian bringing rare artefacts and captivating stories to life.
