The Summer Carnival will make it’s much anticipated return to three picturesque towns across Malta;  Birżebbuġa, San Pawl il-Baħar, and Marsaskala.

This event is being organised by Festivals Malta in collaboration with the respective Local Councils between the 18th and 20th of August, starting from 8 pm, lighting up the nights like never before!

This edition will see twelve floats, as well as participants from Gozo with evenings filled with dance and joy, in the unique style of the Maltese carnival.

These details were announced by the Minister for National Heritage Owen Bonnici, who said that the Summer Carnival is another opportunity for talented artists working in the field of carnival to showcase their talents to the public and tourists visiting us during the summer days.

“The Summer Carnival is not only an opportunity for the people living in Malta to experience the colours, floats, and dances brought by the Maltese Carnival on a smaller scale, but it’s also a means through which we can promote knowledge about the carnival as a form of artistic craftsmanship,” Bonnici said.

“Every year, the Carnival of Malta that we organise in February manages to attract thousands of Maltese and tourists. However, many tourists visiting our country in the summer do not get the chance to experience the art and craftsmanship of the Carnival. Thus, the Summer Carnival serves as a means to showcase the talents of amateur carnival artists to a broader audience at a time when our country sees the most tourists throughout the year,” stated Aaron Zahra, the Chairman of Festivals Malta.

“This event holds significant importance for Festivals Malta. This is because while providing another opportunity for amateur carnival artists to display their brilliant work, we also give the people living in Malta and Gozo a taste of what they can expect from the Carnival of Malta held in February,” said Frans Agius, the Chief Executive of Festivals Malta.
