Investing In Malta’s Festive Heritage: 2025 Cultural Support Scheme Launched

The Minister for National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government, Owen Bonnici, has announced the guidelines and regulations for the 2025 Artistic Heritage Scheme. This initiative continues to support cultural and social organisations in Malta and Gozo that work voluntarily to strengthen and preserve traditions linked to Maltese village feasts.
The scheme covers three main categories:
- Band Clubs and Musical Societies for Feasts – Up to €8,000 per eligible entity
- Health and Safety in Firework Workshops – Up to €5,000 per eligible entity*
- Semi-Permanent Artistic Decorations – Up to €5,000 per eligible entity
(*Organisations using firework workshops that are not their own may benefit from a maximum of €2,500.)

“The Maltese feast is a core part of our identity. Through this scheme, we are directly investing in organisations that dedicate their efforts to preserving and enhancing our feasts, while also improving safety and strengthening their cultural infrastructure,” Minister Owen Bonnici said, highlighting the scheme’s significance in safeguarding Malta’s cultural heritage.
“This scheme is designed to provide the necessary support to those who work tirelessly to keep our artistic and musical traditions alive. We urge organisations to apply and benefit from this fund.” Rita Falzon, Head of Funds at the Arts Council Malta, said.
Applications for the scheme’s first call will be accepted until 1st April 2025, with results expected on 8th May 2025. The second call for applications will be open until 7th October 2025, with results announced on 13th November 2025.
