Malta Takes The Spotlight As Minister Bonnici Visits Set Of Global Action Series ‘Has Fallen’

Malta is once again hosting the filming of a major international production, as the action series Has Fallen began shooting locally last May and is set to continue until the end of September.
Minister for Culture, Lands and Local Government Owen Bonnici, together with Film Commissioner Johann Grech, met with the crew, cast and creative team during filming in Malta.
The island is playing a major role by hosting almost half (47%) of the entire production, with several iconic locations featured in the series, including the National Stadium in Ta’ Qali, the Armed Forces of Malta’s training grounds in Pembroke and the Kordin Correctional Facility.

Minister Bonnici explained how this international production continues to put Malta on the global stage while also creating new employment opportunities for the local creative community.
“The Government is committed to attracting more projects of this calibre, which bring direct investment into our economy and enhance the skills within our country. For this production alone, 166 Maltese and Gozitan crew members are involved,” the Minister stated.
“Productions like this are important not only for our economy and Malta’s image, but also because they create opportunities to upskill Maltese and Gozitan film crews,” Film Commissioner Johann Grech added.
Written by Howard Overman and directed by David Caffrey alongside Alice Troughton, the series stars Ritu Arya, best known from The Umbrella Academy and Tewfik Jallab, known from Dark Hearts. The story follows MI6 officers investigating a dangerous terrorist criminal organisation in a European city.
