On Saturday 3rd December, The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra presented a live version of a classic Pirates of the Caribbean film for an audience of over 2,600.

Following the success of Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King, they chose The Curse of the Black Pearl, the first film in the blockbuster series, to be next.

The family-friendly symphonic cinema event allows audiences to enjoy the captivating soundtrack, a creative collaboration between Academy-Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer and Klaus Badelt.

During last-minute preparations, Minister for Arts Owen Bonnici met up with the musicians, artists and organisers of this concert.

“We shall continue producing similar concerts and keep working to improve their popularity. We need to ensure that more Maltese artists have opportunities to build a professional musical career,” Bonnici said.

Mro. Christopher Muscat, acting CEO of the national orchestra, stated that such family-friendly concerts help in bringing the orchestra closer to its followers.

“The exhilarating Pirates of the Caribbean film score performed live gives a totally new dimension to this classic movie and will surely be an unforgettable experience for all patrons”, he said.
