Poetry, Jazz And A Whole Lot Of Books: The Malta Mediterranean Literature Festival Returns Next Week

The 18th edition of the Malta Mediterranean Literature Festival organised by Inizjamed will be held next Monday – with a number of renowned authors, both local and foreign.

Between Monday 21st and Saturday 26th August at the Valletta Design Cluster and Fort St. Elmo, seven writers from various countries will be reading their work. The festival also features poetry films, a jazz band, local singers, a book stall, drinks and a selection of food.

The authors participating in this edition of the literature festival are Tanja Bakić from Montenegro, Adania Shibli from Palestine, Joelle Taylor from the United Kingdom, Karin Tidbeck from Sweden and Claudia Gauci, Maria Grech Ganado and Simone Inguanez from Malta.

Readings will mostly be in Maltese and English, but some short works will also be read in the authors’ native languages.

Apart from readings, workshops with children, discussions, interviews, live music, films, as well as an open mic will be held.

This year’s festival is endorsed by Arts Council Malta through the Investment in Cultural Organisations fund and is also part of the Literary Europe Live platform. The festival is also supported by Valletta Design Cluster, Heritage Malta, l-Għaqda tal-Malti – Università and the Polish Embassy.
