At the third day of Dance Festival Malta last night, pioneers of Maltese dance graced the stage at the Manoel Theatre for a unique act.

The inclusive dance performance project titled ‘Second Act’ invited local veterans of dance, to unite and honour the medium as a lifelong art form. The stage saw the presence of Tanya Bayona and Daphne Lungaro Mifsud, two trailblazers of Maltese ballet who were trained by Russian émigré Princess Natalia Poutiatine in the 1950s.

‘Second Act’ had over 30 dancers in one performance, choreographed by Justin Roy Barker, the Co-Artistic Director of the College Of Dance.

As the stage curtains closed, the stage erupted with applause from the moved audience.
