Singing With The Stars: Here Are The Guest Artists For Mużika Mużika 2023

With only two weeks to go, the excitement for this year’s Mużika Mużika is mounting. And the fantastic line-up of performers and songs has just got better!
Festivals Malta announced the guest artists that will be performing during this year’s edition at a press conference earlier today.
The guest of honour is none other than our very own Maltese icon, Ira Losco.
With local and international hits such as One in a Million, What I’d Give, Me Luv U Long Time, and our all-time guilty pleasure, 7th Wonder we can’t wait to see what she’s going to bring to this year’s show.
Ira will be performing on the final night and she hinted that a spectacular show is in the works.
“In the upcoming performance I want to showcase as many of my songs from my repertoire as possible in our beautiful language. I want it to feel like a little trip down memory lane. Everyone I meet always tells me how certain songs of mine in Maltese will always live on. I want to take this opportunity to create something very special. And there’s a little surprise at the end too,” she said.
As a former contestant at the 2001 Festival Kanzunetta Maltija, this competition is close to her heart. ”Festival tal-Kanzunetta Maltija was actually one of the first festivals I had ever taken part in. The first time augured well as I had won the FIDOF award for most promising artist and the second time I placed second. It got writers interested in me, I then did MESC and well the rest is history,” concluded Ira.

Make way for last year’s winner
We all remember that iconic moment when Kurt Calleja was announced winner of Mużika Mużika 2022 with his song Bla Tarf.
Inspired by a couple who through their love, managed to overcome the trials and tribulations of drug addiction, this song quickly became the 2022 newlyweds’ most popular request.
A touching and powerful message, coupled with Kurt’s epic interpretation, it’s no wonder that this song landed him in first place in the second edition of the festival.
We heard a surprise is in store for Kurt’s performance on Saturday but we still haven’t figured out what it’s going to be. Until then we’ll just have Bla Tarf on repeat and we’re dropping it here in case you want to join in!
Where are the Mużika Mużika mascots?
The much-loved folk band Kantera will return to the Mużika Mużika stage, this time not as participants, but as guest artists. The group, who came in third in the 2021 edition, and second place last year, will perform some of their greatest hits at the end of the semifinal on Thursday March 23rd.
The group was founded specifically for the festival and had its very own debut on the Mużika Mużika stage. Kantera took us all by storm as they managed to popularise folk music with their pop culture twist.
Their performance on Thursday will include a brand-new release and we are so excited to hear what they have been working on! We’ll just have to wait and see!
Is it just us or has Mużika Mużika just become even more exciting?
