The Top Movies, TV Shows and Songs of 2023 According To Malta’s Politicians

2023 was an incredible year for entertainment- from the epic Barbenheimer to the feminist anthem that was Miley Cyrus’ Flowers, it is safe to say that this year was a legendary one in the entertainment sphere.

We decided to ask some of Malta’s most influential politicians which movies and TV series are the most bingeworthy and which songs they could not get enough of in 2023.

1.  Bernard Grech

“This year I particularly enjoyed watching the documentary ‘Beckham. Although I support Liverpool, I could appreciate the human being behind the persona.”

As for his favourite song, Grech said “Phil Collins- In the Air Tonight”.

2.  Byron Camilleri:

“Lupin Part 3, and Ted Lasso” were Camilleri’s favourite series and when asked what his favourite song was, he said “Blink-182’s reunion (thankfully) which led them to release their album “One More Time”.

Their song “One More Time” was his top-played song on Spotify in 2023.

3.  Joseph Muscat

“My favourite Series at the moment is Winning Time Season 2”.

His favourite artist is Vasco Rosso.

4.  Aaron Farrugia

“My favourite move would be Air and as for TV show, I would say The Diplomat. For song I would go for I, Us & We’s song Savage. I would say my top artist this year was The Weeknd”

5.  Ian Borg

The Crown was Borg’s favourite series this year and The Travellers were his favourite artists.

6.  Miriam Dalli 

When asked what her favourite movie this year was Dalli swiftly answered “without a doubt, Leo – the heart-warming movie that tells the story of a 74-year-old iguana.” 

Her top tune this year was Dreaming by Marshmello, Pink and Sting.

7.  Roberta Metsola

“My favourite series was The Bear” said Metsola, while her top song was none other than Marija Bellia’s interpretation of ‘L-Aħħar Bidwi’” on X Factor Malta. 

8.  Alex Borg 

“I do not watch a lot of TV but sometimes I do get an hour or two before sleep watching a Netflix series. My favourite this year was The Crown. It is very introspective on what it takes to lead a public life and it is not all honky dory.”

“My favourite song for this year would be My Life by Imagine Dragons”.
