Trijonfali Triumph! Malta Carnival 2024 Has A Winner, And It’s A Towering Float Featuring Shakira, Elton John And More
Malta’s Carnival has a winner… and it’s a towering float by Triton Carnival Company!
Announced by Festivals Malta during a two-and-a-half-hour livestream on Wednesday, Triton Carnival Company took home the top spot in Konkors Nru 1- Karrijiet Trijonfali Sezzjoni A, the largest category for floats in Malta.
The float, officially called Spettaklu Mużikali Ma’ DJ Fenomenali (and yes, that’s Gigi D’Agostino all the way up there!), came just ahead of The Talent by Donpe Carnival Company and Back To The 90s by DreamTeam Carnival Company, thanks to its leaders Joswa Borg and Ronnie Spiteri.
But D’Agostino wasn’t the only popular artist faithfully recreated by Triton, with the float also featuring the likes of Lady Gaga, Shakira, Bob Marley, Coldplay’s Chris Martin and ABBA’s Agatha.

Triton aren’t new to Malta’s Carnival scene, having joined the scene exactly 10 years ago, back in 2014. And on its first year, the company had actually also placed first in the Section A competition with an intricate Japanese-themed float.
“The rest is history,” the company had written last year. And boy is it really!
In fact, earlier this week, Malta Records recognised Joswa Borg as the youngest-ever leader to lead a Section A float to victory, an achievement he got back in 2019 he was just 22 years and 42 days old!
