Article Featured Image

Weavature is a new design object by local studio I+A created with one of Malta’s last weavers, Antoine Vella and Christian Bezzina of Medina Steels.

This chair has already been awarded 1st prize at Premju Ġieħ l-Artiġjanat Malti 2023, Malta’s national craft award organised by the Malta Crafts Foundation.

The design will be launched this evening in the Roof Garden at the Valletta Design Cluster between 5:00pm and 7:00pm. The launch will include a short presentation, followed by the opportunity to view the hair and speak directly with its creators.

This project was supported through a public grant by the Malta Crafts Foundation. The chair combines digital generative design, artisan steel fabrication and traditional weaving which highlights how Maltese craft can evolve into a contemporary, high-end design.
