The Commissioner for Children said it is “disappointed” at the ongoing industrial action in Maltese schools and Church schools.

“The Office urges all those involved to come together to find a way forward in the best interests of all children without having any further negative impact on children’s right to quality education,” the Office of the Commissioner for Children said in a statement.

The office seemed to be alluding to the recent MUT directives that have sparked controversy regarding their “disproportionate” impact on children with disabilities, most notably those who are non-verbal.

This statement was released today, making it particularly appropriate when considering that it’s World Children’s Day.
