KSU has just launched a series of five funds amounting to a whopping €80,000 aimed to empower and support students.

These are the Arts, Education, Green, Organisations, and Sports funds which hope to increase aid in these sectors within the University of Malta.

1. Arts Fund

€17,000 has been allocated to promote and encourage the appreciation of arts and culture within the student body.

The goal is two-fold: firstly, the fund hopes to finance projects that are arts and culture-driven, and secondly, to allow students to experience local productions by reimbursing their ticket to their attendance or participation – if and where applicable.

2. Education Fund

Here, KSU has set aside €23,000 euros to push students to keep up-to-date with current developments in research as well as give a helping hand to those embarking on educational initiatives and carrying out their own studies.

3. Green Fund

The student organisation reiterated its strong belief in promoting and encouraging sustainable practices on campus. So, as part of its holistic approach to promoting alternative modes of transport both on and off campus, KSU has launched a €20,000 annual Green Fund available for students to benefit from.

This is funded by the €4.50 collected from the distribution of student parking permits across campus.

4. Organisations’ Fund

This fund hopes to get student organisations to work together to hold events in aid of charity, and social causes, and in the interest of students and their well-being.

5. Sports Fund

KSU set aside €10,000 for this fund with two different aims.

Firstly, it will be awarded on a sponsorship basis, whereby KSU would sponsor a sports student organisation. It would include pitch rental, purchasing of kits, and more.

Secondly, the fund will be given to student organsiations to fund projects that promote the appreciation and enjoyment of sports within the UoM student body.
