Malta Launches Scholarships For Palestinian Students Amid Ongoing Genocide

Palestinian students are being offered the opportunity to pursue postgraduate studies in Malta through two fully funded scholarships announced by the University of Malta and the Government of Malta.
The scholarships, administered through Malta’s Official Development Assistance programme, are available to Palestinian nationals interested in studying for a Master of Arts in Humanitarian Action or a Master of Arts in Conflict Resolution and Mediterranean Security at the University of Malta.
The initiative is being supported by Malta’s Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade, in collaboration with the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Malta and the University of Malta itself. It forms part of Malta’s wider commitment to promote education and capacity-building in regions facing humanitarian and geopolitical challenges.
Each scholarship covers full tuition fees and includes a monthly stipend of €1,200 to support living costs during the course of study.

Applications are now open for the 2025 academic year and can be submitted exclusively through the official University of Malta portal.
The programmes on offer are particularly relevant in light of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Palestine. The Master in Humanitarian Action explores the practical and theoretical aspects of delivering aid and support in conflict or disaster zones, while the MA in Conflict Resolution and Mediterranean Security focuses on peace-building, diplomacy, and regional security issues — areas where Palestine’s future leadership is likely to play a critical role.
The University of Malta is one of the Mediterranean’s oldest higher education institutions and has increasingly positioned itself as a bridge between Europe and the Global South. In recent years, it has sought to expand access to students from conflict-affected regions through targeted scholarship programmes.
The announcement was shared on social media by the Palestinian Embassy in Malta, which encouraged eligible candidates to apply and described the scholarships as a valuable opportunity to invest in the next generation of Palestinian leaders and humanitarian professionals.
