MCAST Students Gather In Hundreds To Protest For Degree Equality
During lecturer hours, Hundreds of MCAST students protested ongoing disagreements between the Malta Union of Teachers, MCAST and the government about the validity of their degrees.
Speakers during the rally called for the recognition of their degrees to be equivalent to those of the University of Malta, highlighting that they are just as capable as university students.
The dispute has been ongoing for too long, leaving students in the dark about their results, not being able to communicate with their lecturers and questioning the validity of their degrees, Students are arguing that the government’s issuing of administrative passes undermines the value of their education.
The videos and pictures above show a carcade led from MCAST Qormi to the protest at the MCAST Paola campus, where students stuck signs to their car bonnets with the likes of “Stop the academic limbo” and “flus f’butkom hemm imma għall-edukaturi m’hemmx” written.
This is the latest demonstration following numerous protests led by MCAST students and lecturers which call for the government to listen to the educators and make sure a smooth academic year follows, giving the students the education they deserve.
