MCAST Students Slowly Start Receiving Their Marks

MCAST has finally started giving students their grades, a student of the institution told Lovin Malta.

“Finally, a step in the right direction,” the student said.

This comes amid a months-long dispute between the Malta Union of Teachers as well as the Education Ministry regarding a collective agreement. The MUT saw the amendments to the agreement as unsatisfactory and, within its rights, initiated industrial action which resulted in students being caught in the cross-fire.

Students have been unable to receive their marks, were withheld from guidance when writing their theses, and were unable to plan their next steps – those supposedly graduating were especially left in limbo.

Now, it seems that tide has started to change and students have started to receive their marks. However, it is unclear whether the Education Ministry has fulfilled the wants and needs of the teachers.
