Ramadan Mubarak to all those who celebrate!

The holy month of Ramadan, celebrated by millions of Muslims around the world including those in Malta, starts today, Thursday 23rd March.

Ramadan, the Arabic name for the ninth month in the Islamic calendar, is a sacred month of fasting, prayer and reflection.

The annual observance involves fasting from sunrise to sunset, and the Islamic Community of Malta has published a Ramadan timetable for all its observers.

According to the calendar, the last pre-dawn meal this morning was at 3:39am.

The nightly feast that breaks the fast can be had at 6:18pm.

The times differ slightly from day to day.

The end of Ramadan is marked after a crescent new moon has been sighted or after the completion of thirty days of fasting if no sighting of the moon is possible.

Malta has around 3,000 people who are Muslim who will celebrate this holy ritual, so here’s wishing them Ramadan Mubarak.
