Songs And Rhymes Project Promotes Awareness On Maltese Honey Bee

As part of a larger initiative to promote environmental awareness, three educational songs have been created to celebrate the Maltese Honey Bee and other national species of Malta.
There is a total of three songs, to be released throughout 2025, and each will serve as a multifaceted educational tool that will help our youngsters learn about the vital role of pollinators and they will also provide a fun and engaging way for children to learn Maltese.

The project, led by Dylan Farrugia and Abner Joe Buttigieg, is supported by the Small Initiatives Support Scheme (SIS), managed by the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector (MCVS), and backed by the Ministry for Inclusion and the Voluntary Sector (MIV).
The first song to be released, In-Naħla Katerina (Katerina the Bee), introduces children to the Maltese Honey Bee which is Malta’s National Insect. This song is written and composed by Michael Piscopo and features Phyllisienne Brincat as the performer. Professor Suzanne Piscopo provided educational guidance for the content to be pedagogically sound and engaging for children up to the age of six.
