Have you ever thought about teaching English in Malta? There are endless possibilities to what you can do once you hold an ELT Certificate

We might be going over six perks in this article, but teaching English as a foreign language is meaningful work where you have the opportunity to change someone’s life for the better.

With that being said, there is so much fun just waiting for you when you’re an English language teacher.

1. Getting qualified is a breeze

Becoming a qualified English as a foreign language teacher is simple. If you have already sat for your English A-level then you’re already halfway there! If you don’t have an A-level in English you may opt for TELT, a proficiency exam in ELT, organised and offered free of charge by ELT Council

2. You pick your hours

Want to work from 9am until 1pm, or maybe you’d rather take the afternoon or early evening shift? No worries, when it comes to working in an English language school you have flexibility since you have control over your hours by having the luxury of picking which shift you would prefer to work.

3. You get to meet people from all over the world

English schools are one of the places where cultural exchange is constantly happening. Having students from France, Spain, Italy and loads of other cultures in the same class mean that you get to learn all about what makes each country unique in a culturally colourful environment.

4. You will always have a job to fall back on

Achieving your ELT Permit means that you are able to teach English in Malta as a foreign language at any point in your life. With the permit being valid for four years, you can get certified today, and kick start your teaching career in the summer months.

5. You can be at the beach by 2pm

Working in a school environment means that when school’s out, you’re off! Picture this; your lesson ends at 1pm so that means you can say goodbye to your students, wrap things up in class, and be in your swimsuit at the beach in no time. What’s even better is the fact that you can choose which weeks to work, so you can take advantage of the summer sun.

6. You’ll always know about the local spots when you travel

Fostering connections with so many people from different countries means that you always have the inside scoop when you’re visiting a country. Long gone are the days when you need to hassle about filling the day with activities and looking for the best restaurant in town!
