You Can Meet Ireland’s First Astronaut In Malta This Month

Malta, get ready for liftoff – a real-life future astronaut is coming to Esplora.

Xjenza Malta, in collaboration with the Embassy of Ireland to Malta, is hosting a very special guest: Dr Norah Patten – aeronautical engineer, space researcher, STEM trailblazer… and future astronaut.

Dr Patten is currently preparing for her first research spaceflight with Virgin Galactic, where she’ll make history as the first Irish person to travel to space. Her work spans everything from microgravity research and bioprinting tech to spacesuit testing and water experiments in zero-G.

With experience at Boeing, Bell Labs, and the International Space University, she’s no stranger to the cutting edge of Space science. She’s also a passionate educator and the author of Shooting for the Stars, a bestselling STEM book that won Ireland’s Book of the Year award.

This one-of-a-kind talk will dive into her research, her personal journey, and what it’s really like to train for space. If you’re into science and space – this one’s for you.
