PL MEP Alex Agius Saliba has been re-elected as one of the nine vice-presidents of the Socialists and Democrats Group (S&D) in the European Parliament.

Agius Saliba took to social media to announce his re-election, stating, “Thank you from the bottom of my heart to the EU Parliamentarians of the Socialists and Democrats group for their faith in me for yet another term.”

The Labour MEP then went on to promise to continue working towards the betterment of all Maltese and Gozitans.

He was first elected to the position in December 2021.

In his role as one of the nine vice-presidents, Agius Saliba will join the S&D Group’s Bureau, which manages the group’s political operations. This is the second-largest political group within the EU, after the EPP, which is supported by the three PN candidates.
